And I can understand why
I assume you are mad because the firies can't acess it not about the gate
We had a flood access road put in a few years ago it was our only way of getting out to get supplies when it flooded and the "tourists" drove it for no real reason and destroyed it so badly only a 4WD could get through (luckily I have 2) but it doesn't help the residents who don't and could not get access to basic supplies:mad:

.....which side of the fence are you sitting on
i gotta say i agree with gates being closed when it is wet, it works well out on the birdsville, oodanatta and strzlekie tracks, i know it not quite the same but it means the tracks are in good nick allround and emergency services can use them when needed and most of the general public can travel them without problems
i remember years ago there was a story from either the ACT or NSW or could have been VIC that the fire fighters were asking for state forest tracks to be re-opened so that the general pulic could use them. the problems they encountered were that all the fire trails were overgrown and hard to find as they had not been driven on for years which made fighting the fire much more difficult and one could say more dangerous.
i all for closing areas off when it rains and re-open when it dry, keeps everybody happy and reduces the money required to maintain tracks
don't destroy what you have come to enjoy.....comes to mind

Sad but true, there is always some Richard head who wants to play in the mud and wreck the tracks and stuff it up for the rest of us.
Lock the gate, the trouble is they will destroy it with a winch.

That was part of the big canberra fire debarcle. Fires had to re make the tracks so by the time they reached the fire it was long gone. No the decision makers did not learn.

I am just peed off that a fence has to be sat on, we're supposed to be treading lightly and caring for the enviornment we enjoy to spend time in. Yet the local P platers on other forums lead groups of upto 40 plus cars at a time up these tracks. The 4wding community as a whole will loose out as the gate (if erected) will not only be the start of many but will remain shut permanently due to the fact the roads in the Watagans usually take around a month to dry out completely.
Therefore to get a firetruck up into this rainforest area it will have to be a Mog or have the roads graded and tared.
The P platers don't GAF search the net and have a look at the mess they have done to Morisset hospital grounds

I have seen a lot of RFS vehicles playing in the rain on park tracks so I'm not sure this is as bad as this woman says.

A local track here has been closed because of too many knobs and their home-made vehicles with tractor tyres churning up the place.
One vehicle was responsible for a bushfire in the park last year, when they rolled a vehicle, and up she went.
More recently, they brought chainsaws and cut down trees to dam up the creek crossing to make it deeper. One went tearing through the scrub with brakes on fire, colliding into a second vehicle and burned both down. Then they have the nerve to physically assault and harass local residents to come and rescue them from their sheer stupidity.
And the leader of the pack is apparently a cop from Adelaide.:nazilock:

agggressive tyres set at the apropriate pressures actually do a lot less damage to the tracks than tools with a heavy right foot and at's at road pressures.
