Hey guys,
I'm 80% done in putting a 5.0 EFI windsor in my '84 classic. The trouble I have come to is it has been over 6 months since I pulled out the 3.5, and cannot for the life of me remember where the alternator wires go
Has anyone got a picture, or can help me here would be greatly appreciated.
Also, I don't know where the wires have gone for the tacho, oil pressure and water temp. I seem to remember a round plug on the passenger side near the coil ?????
Many thanks,
Shayne

The wires for oil pressure ect are on a plug near the coil as you said. If it helps these are the colors to look for.
Oil Press - White/Brown stripe
Water temp sender - Green/blue stripe
Tacho - White/grey stripe
Not sure what you mean by "where the alternator wires go?"
On mine there is a wire wire from the tacho (white/grey stripe), wire from the alternator light on dash (brown/yellow stripe), and the main wire to starter motor

Thanks buddy.
I will check it out tomorrow.
With the Alternator, I cannot find the wires that went to it, I am using the Falcon alternator, but I think you answered my question on that too.
Cheers mate.

Ok, yes I am using the falcon alternator as well.
I only knew thise colors because I was just wiring up my motor today.
But, there are 2 wires that come out of teh voltage regulator on the alternator (red and yellow I think). I know the red larger wire loops down to the "+" on the alternator but I still dont know what the yellow wire connects to.
I also think the main wire to the alternator can go back to the battery instead of the starter motor, does that sound right?

yep put it back to battery as this is one less join in the charging system and less wire too depending on where the altanator is :)

Thanks mate, Alternator is about 10" from the battery :p
Hey Walker, thanks mate, those wires are the same colours as mine.... I guess land rover can do things with some sort of consistency :D....
Do you know what the smaller plug with 2 wires was for ? and there are a black and white wire on the large plug, any idea what they were for ? Old coil, distributor, electronic ignition unit ?

Pretty sure that is for the electronic distributor. It goes back to "+" and "-" on coil.
