A DAY WITH THE TOP BRASS

In answer to Colonel Colman’s request for some assistance with his latest purchase of toys, 3 X landies which I think everybody is familiar with from previous posts. I arrived about 10.30 am just in time to see Mr. Ho Har finish welding Col’s boat trailer.
It was then time for the three of us to spend time on our backs surveying the needed repairs to the chassis of two of the vehicles and some discussion as to how we would tackle these repairs, while Mrs. Ho Har & Mrs. Hodgo watched on with the odd comment.
It was during this time that a possibly unknown feature was discovered about Landover’s, now we all know that the grill can be used as a BBQ for cooking but how many knew that they have a built in bottle opener for the stubby. See attached photo for this feature. By now it was time to move up stairs for some nibbles and lunch and some light hearted chat and time to get to know the General better.
After lunch the three of us armed with spanners, hammers, screw drivers and WD40, set too and removed the hard top along with door tops, fitted a spare wheel to the bonnet laid the windscreen down . At this stage I think Col was having an orgasm with his new toy. The General and tin lids along with Mrs. Ho Har were placed in the vehicle for a photo session after a couple of shots the lot disappeared out the gate and down the road \ see photos to support, BUT watch out for the movie it will be a HO Har production of them returning from their drive in the new toy.
I am sure I speak for the Ho Hars a big thanks to both the General and the Colonel for a very enjoyable day

While writing this a thought came to me about Landover’s they could have painted some in a special color and a little mod to the tool boxes called it the limited addition BBQ model The grill for cooking , bottle opener on tail gate and the tool boxes as an esky

Great work - it must have been a real thrill to get the Series 111 (or is it a 11?) out on the road. I would have loved to get there. :(

I will next time. :)

Thanks Mate,
I hope you and Mrs Hodgo had a good time. Thank her for telling us the name of those birds that visit us, and I hope she enjoys that bottle of Rose.

Having people over is one thing, but the people that come are the ones that make the day.:D

As I said, alot more looking and head scratching than actual spannering.

Thank-you all.

CC and Family

PS I hope you are feeling better soon Scallops

Sorry, how many years did you spend in the Army driving Land Rovers, and YOU NEVER KNEW ABOUT THE BOTTLE OPENER? I suppose you never were taught how to use the ring-pull from a steel beer can as a feeler gauge to set points and plugs, either?

Sheesh, and they say MPs have no sense of humour!:nazilock:

Now thats a good point from menory I think we used the lip under the dash board as the bottle opener as for setting points , we used eyesight near enough was good enough.
