Was driving down the Gibb River Road the other day and musing on the dangers of driving on dirt roads.

Went round a left hand bend and then downhill and found this

It had happened that day. Looking at tyre tracks it had come round left hand bend on wrong side of road and then went down hill on wrong side. Swerved at bottom of hill (Why I do not know) went onto verge travelled down verge for 10 metres swerved back onto road and rolled it.

It can happen on the bitumen too

Also I make mistakes

Advantages with LR is that they can be easily rebuilt.

SO watch your speed on the dirt and on the bitumen

Not a pleasant outcome, but from what I've seen so far is that most non-LR driving Australians have scant regard for the consequences of speeding. Drive to match the road and conditions and that should not happen :(

oopsie!

All 3 examples look expensive... What happened with the 110 Brendan?

Let me know if you want any hand luggage sized bits bringing out with me or sending with Barbara...

Unfortunatley you can Drive to match the road and conditions and be way over the speed limit. driving over the speed limit is not necessarily dangerous.

Speeding isn't always the issue, and I get very frustrated with all this speed kills nonsense.

Inappropriate speed is an issue, along with drink and drug driving (I saw a tosser on the M1 last week drinking a can of Bundy and Rum at 5.50am) and in all honesty the absoloute lack of common sense that some drivers over here seem to possess. (the % seems higher than anywhere else I have ever driven)

I see so many things over here which drive me mad, and if you did them in europe you would be dragged accross the coals.

For example I saw some halfwits today that had broken down on the hard shoulder of the M1 again and were lying on the f'ing bonnet...

Dont get me started!!

LOL

John you are NOT very observent. That was back in 2006. The bits required for the TLC needed was slightly bigger then hand luggage size!!!

TLC required new chassis, (hence rear winch etc) new wheel and tyre, new rock and tree slider etc.

But it lives on!!

My D2 looked worse and was still driving perfectly. :D Engine didn't even miss a beat.

Every panel except the back door wrecked.

Aaah, but it seems Tojo didn't have the brown corduroys on and has gone all incontinent on the roadside! :o

Hard to tell if that's oil underneath or just coolant darkening the sand, but from the look of the bull bar, I reckon there's a good chance the lower section of radiator might be a tad worse for wear - crunch! ;)

Still, hopefully no one was badly injured.

Cheers

I consider the speed of my 1967 Series SWB 2A to be an inherent safety feature....the accidents are always over before I get to them.:)
