I spotted this while walking to work in Surry Hills the other day (in a building, not a street corner before someone says it!)

It has a D2 dash in it, but I didn't get a chance to take more pics or to try and find out more about it - I literally clicked the photo as I kept walking.

Does anyone know more about it or who owns it?

Yup, a bushranger, not a Bowler ;)

They can be based on D2, D1 or Range rover chassis

Are you able to change vehicle bodies on an air bag equiped vehicle?

I guess so as if I recall the steering column remains unchanged. but the bumper etc wehre the sensors go I don't know.

Good question though, i'd never thought about that.

I assume it is the 21st bushie in this list...

I'm not sure, I don't think its that one. Its a 110" ute with tdi, 37's and portals.

I think the Dakar/BushRanger concept is brilliant, not sure about the final design though, to me the bodies proprtions are a bit dodgy & windscreen far too sloped. I like the idea of turning a RR or Disco with a tired body into a ute version of these, Hmmm, wonder if we'd ever get it certified over here?

From memory of talking to the bloke with the green bushranger at cooma... it had something weird like a 114" wheel base... was a disco chassis he extended.

60K for mals car, i'd doubt it. That car would sell for a bit more than that i would think.

i may have slightly miss remembered the price but still 65K isn't a lot for such a good truck!

I know why andrew said that......as the car owes him way more than 65k from what Andrew has told me!

Whoopsy. I wasn't referring to the green ute (that be the second ute that John made).
I made a poor attempt of referencing the first photo - in this thread, of the chopped grey bushie ute. It, to me, certainly looks like the grey bushie in the listing --- that was for sale a few years back in one of the caryards along Parramatta road.

As for Mal Van's 65k Dakar, it used to look like this:
http://www.angelfire.com/on4/bushy5560/18.html

(It was still fully road legal and registerable how it was presented at Tuff Truck 09).

If I still had a decent job, it'd be parked in my driveway right now. Damn I wanted it.
