With the cheap prices of D2 V8's at the moment I am thinking of turfing my puma Defender and finding a low KM Disco (and perhaps another small car for work).

Where do they put the gas tanks if converted?

How do they go on LPG?

Cost of conversion?

hey mate, search function will help you here.

2 options for tanks and really 1 option for the system - a vapour injection system that integrates with the ECU.

Tanks can go in rear cargo space (maintain original petrol tank) or under the car where petrol tank lives (they then install a small petrol tank of about 50L). talking about $4600 for cargo space install or $5600 for the tanks under the car.

Lots of places to get a conversion done, maybe use Yellow pages to find someone near you, there is also an australian LPG site you can find which gives details of installers.

In melbourne you have AG Auto Gas, LPGas1, Ezygas and a few others...

Search will tell you alot more detail about the specifics of systems and tanks, their benefits and shortfalls.

I have a much cheaper system that works very well on my D2 - electrically activated solenoid on main gas tap and idle tap - Landy Renzo LS-VO5 (ie lambda (O2) sensor version 5). Magic system that combines electronics with a mixer. I get the same economy as the state of the art vapour injection.

Power and torque are both good and the engine is sweet.

Cheers

PS. Had this for about 2 years now and love it - with 2 narrow scuba tanks in the load bed that allows room on either side and in particular only 9 inches or so of load height destroyed.

What are these two narrow scuba tanks you have? and what LPG volume do they take?

No worries fellas - I will take some. They are winchester brand and sit in the rear of the wagon inside (bloody safe too there).

They hold 54 useable litres. Come rain hale or shine I can run it to where the tank is whistling and then fill and its....54 litres!

I get 300 k out of the 54 litres and sometimes more if Im light on the throttle - and thats in and out to town from the burbs (ie in and out to Brisbane through the West). I think i have been posting about 20litres/100k, but in fact its more like 18 - thats with 31's and a bull bar.

Cheers
