I went back down to get some more paint today so i can spray up the rims, doors and tray, i went in with the can i had purchased from them the last time i was in there roughly 3 months ago, what they brought out in the new can was poles apart from what i have finnished half the car in already, after alot of banter they matched up 4L of the old stuff (half finnished car colour) and gave me 4L of what it should be for nothing, now i have 8L for nics so i cant complain about thier customer service.

So what would you all of you do, i brought the car off a "Stripper" and it had a benneton multi coloured pannel thing going, there was not a set colour to go off, so i saw a black and white photo of a Deep Broze Green series 1 so i thaught why not, why not indead. Ive half made up my mind to leave it now as the colour has grown on me and besides with the engine, transfer box, cooling system, wiring loom, brake and fuel lines and all the other sundries in the engine bay already i think that tips the ballance in favour of the mystery green, but can anyone identify the mystery green for me, see attached photo, cheers. p.s Numpty's Missus you might be leaving here with $112 worth of propper Deep Bronze Green next time your down here getting me out of trouble with the boss.

G'day All, Well it's not often I comment on anyones paint/painting jobs but that is not DBG LOL, I know from my experience (limited as it is being a Reg/nse not a spray painter) that if you fiddle with the mix of thinners and paint it will be different every time, and I have had to repaint some panels twice in DBG LOL:p but I've never experienced that before, it looks like a Lime Green, anyway mate good luck with it cheers Dennis:angel:

Post a pic of the DBG!!! I want to do my S2A trailer in it but I cant find a swatch anywhere. Was going to do it in Ardennes Green to match my RRC but I really cant be assed doing a metallic on it!

I lernt that lesson a decade ago about measuring paint in proportions ie, ratio between the enamel, universal hardener and enamel thinners, as for level of the rebuild im rebuilding the Dingo as a daily driver (espically since i chucked in the job with a work ute a few weeks ago) so its more for my satisfaction than anything.

Im adding a picture with the Deep bronze Green and the mystery colour, as you can see no amount of stiring or getting the ratios wrong will put humpty back together again, i have been looking and ever though the original tin says Deep Bronze Green im thinking the spanner in question mixed Deep Brunswick Green, to much sniffing thier own product me thinks.

Just caps a Bugger of a week with the Dingo, with being shafted i think i wont be even looking at the 80inch for a week. Anthony.

Deep Brunswick Green is still a very dark green, darker than British Racing Green , even possibly darker than Deep Bronze green.


That green looks more like an Apple Green to me.

The darker looks more like an olive military colour. I was under the impression Deep Bronze Green was more like British Racing Standard Green and there is quite a few variants on this one too. My fav would be the BRG used by Jaguar on XK140-150 models during the 50's.
Might be worth while mixing 50 or 100ml's of the two you have to see what you can come up with. At least it would be.... unique....! Maybe you could call it FUDG (F****d Up Dingo Green)!!!!!

You can tell very little about colour from Pic's, especially on computer monitors. If you look at posted photos of restoration jobs on this site and the S1 site, in 10 shots of the same car you will see 10 different shades.
Hade a friend that thought Brunswick green and DBG where the same drove around in a S2 known as lime fresh.

Looks pretty close to what I ended up painting mine. When I started stripping it back and came to the bottom layer before the primer I liked the look of it. It had been a commercial respray and had some sign writing on it which I couldn't make out. I took a sample to the paint shop and they came back with Windsor Green.

I totally agree with NM, if mine looks half as good as your little beauty i would be as happy as a pig in mud, could you post a few more photos mate, i still have not tracked down the real name of my colour, i dont think i care that much anymore, it will be distinctive though. Anthony.

thats a sweet looking rig all right, are they free wheeling hubs hanging off the front axels, as i said before, if mine looks half as good as that i would be as happy as... Anthony.

Thanx - yes they are free wheeling hubs made by a Queensland co in the 60/70s Ive been told.
