TD5 Fuel Pressure Regulator

I think this &$(%%$* thing is allergic to diesel.

Has been leaking fuel, looks like the fuel pressure regulator is the prob.

A couple of questions, preferably answered by techo's, mechs, anyone that has had it done and handy people of course :D

1. Is it a PITA to replace these, as in, is it a simple job, or fiddly or complicated? (Cause it looks it and it's in a ***** of a position)
2. How long should it take a novice?
3. How long should it take a workshop?

Part quotes seem about $380 on average
All up quote including install range from 1 hr @ $88 ($470 done) to ($760 :eek:)

takes an hour on a deefer, a bit more on a disco.

parts prices vary so shop around.

its DIY if you take the time to look at it, work out whats got to be done and then remove one bolt and then go get a pair of longer ones to turn into guide dowels.

insert one guide dowel, remove the other bolt, insert the second guide dowel and then do the replacement without disturbing the dowels.

reverse the procedure to remove the dowels once the regulator is in place.


ITs a little trickier than that but that should give you the basic idea.

Yep, changed mine recently also, not technically hard to do, only 3 bolts and some quick connect hoses, but very fiddly in the disco. Its in a pig of a spot, you will remove some bark from knuckles and you will test your patience:D:D An hour of 2 should see the job finished. Take your disco to the carwash and clean that part of your engine first.

Ratchet ring spanners make life easier. I didn't find it that hard at all. But I did remove the heater hoses first, but they where to be replaced anyway.
