Earlier this year, around April or so I think, a convoy was organised to run from Brisbane to Currumbin to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Land Rover brand's existence, and I for one thoroughly enjoyed the day.
Having experienced this as well as the South Australian 'Bay to Birdwood' run once or twice and enjoying that event as well, I was just wondering whether an annual 'Rover Run' such as the 60th convoy would be a possibility, and if not, why not?
I dont envisage a "bigger than Ben Hur" production, but I am sure with the camaraderie that exists amongst the marques owners, an interesting day/weekend family oriented outing/event could possibly eventuate over time.
So is this a possibility?
Are there any ideas out there?
Are there any thoughts for or against?
Keen to hear all or any ideas.
Regards
Glen

has possibilities....though you do need a police permit to hold such events (I believe) that is why we had to start the 60th run so early in the morning.

I'm in, but perhaps it could move around Australia? or maybe one in each state?

I want to show off my Landy but I don't want to go to Queensland to do it!

Why not organise a convoy similar to or even part of the following -

Have a Convoy commander and a tail end charlie with Comms
Have vehicles in 5-10 vehicle packets as not to upset normal road users ,have the lead vehicle in comms with the convoy commander.
Have a convoy orders group prior to departing with commander and packet commanders detailing convoy max speed, time of departure between packets, spacing between vehicles, designated refuel stops, action on breakdown.
with these basics eveybody and normal road users should have a good day;)

That sounds like someone has spend some time in the armed forces.

Sounds like a grand idea, bring Land Rover australia to put some brand new releases in the convoy to show prowess and give every driver the option to have a drive should thay want to.

Could be good exposure for them and chance for us to drive one or may even place an order.

Special discounts etc.

I am getting excited!
When is it?
What can I do to help?
