Saw my new SVX yesterday.
Pick it up next friday...yeah!
Downside is that it has carpet throughout..but the upside of that is that it's very quiet.
Rubbers mats coming to cover it.
I'll post some pics next weekend.
:)
Cheers

I understand the front seats are very comfortable... and VERY expensive to buy and put on an existing Defender

From another forum...

(You sitting down?)

...remember this is a UK price...

...and the Aussie dollar has nose dived...

(Sure you're sitting down?)

...in excess of...

(Comfortable?)

£2,500 each :eek2:

So I'm thinking my standard Defender seats are actually very comfortable ;)

Yes the front seats are really comfortable!
It'll be a great touring vehicle for me and the Mrs...the kids will have to put up with the back seats :)

Saw ours this morning as well. What a fantastic looking Defender, the lights look like they are much better than standard, and those seats are really comfy. I was very pleased that the 60 and twin tone black on the bonnet and doors were so subtle. GPS and radio face haven't arrived yet so couldn't see those. I was expecting more for the ipod connection, it's just a cable sticking out the dash.
We are also getting full rubber mats throughout, protect those carpets nicely and should also add to the sound proofing.
Sunroof looked really smart, unusual opening and closing mechanism but I assume it makes it more secure(waterproof).

I was getting an ARB tow bar fitted to future proof it for eventually addding a long range fuel tank, but I hear with the ARB bar you lose the rear access step. Is this true?

Two weeks to pick up. Can't wait.

Get the Land Rover tow bar, so you don't lose your step. Also make sure you get the right one. My dealer ordered the wrong one before the correct one was ordered.

Fabulous news. I haven’t heard from the dealer yet. But I will be flying back in on sometime between next Wednesday and Friday. Sounds like the timing could not be better. I asked the same question about tow bar a couple of weeks ago on the forum and was recommended to check out the Hayman Reece and OEM units. I think the Reece unit was around the $505 mark (not fitted). The dealership has quoted me $1119 (fitted)….. I’ve only ever seen the tow bar in the owner manual and it looks way to low. Looks like it’ll hinder the departure angle too much. Anyone have that has found a solution, please let me know. :)

So.... for the same price as two (abeit very very comfy) seats - I could by a very nice Series I. A really nice restored one mind. And rego. And a tank of fuel. And insurance. Oh well that works then.

And, anyone from Recaro is reading this - guys, news just in - you aren't going to sell any of these after market ! Not at that price point.

Nera Donna,
The owners manual version's will be UK variants of the tow bar. Not for Australia. The Australain Version is made here just for our market & ADR's
(Rover Australia Accessory) RAA608, this fitted will keep your rear step. It still has a towing capacity of 3.5T, so i would highly recomend the factory version.

$1100 fitted sounds a little steep...

No Problems.:D
At our work at present we are having problems getting towbars for the TD4 Defender as stocks are NIL. This means they are in the process of being manufactured/built.
Been advised will be a few weeks away, although we had one delivered today:eek:
So hopefully stocks will be filled sooner rather than later.;)

I fitted the Hayman Reese bar - very neat, minimal impact on departure angle and no impact on rear step

Any of you new owners can feel free to pm me after a few months and I'll take your leaky, mouldy carpeted SVX off your hands....

I get the impression some of you are going to be mighty dissappointed when it leaks like a seive and the carpets get tossed in the bin from being soggy for too long.

LR towbar prevents Long Range Tank being fitted.

But you could go belly tanks instead!

I do in the future intend to fit a long range tank. That is why I am after an ARB tow bar. I will have to decide which is more imprtant to us. The step for the kids to get in and out, or the extra range when I eventually add the tank.

Do the new Defenders leak as much (or at all) compared to the older ones.

Don't worry about the kids, they'll work out how to get in and out easily enough.

Thats a very good point Slunnie. They can after all climb just about anything.

Door fitment!!!! When I went for a test drive in a standard Defender, I could see daylight under the passenger door when it was closed….That’s not the point. It’s a Fender and this one’s special. Rang my dealer the other day (16th) and he feed me a fine line of BS and told me that there were delays in delivery and that vehicle's hadn’t arrived yet! Maybe next month is what I was told. I told him that was strange, one was delivered in on the East Coast the day before? Yesterday (17th) I got a phone call back and told it would be ready next week! Thanks to all you guys on the forum keeping me in touch, this bloke wont be pulling the wool of my eye’s.
Thanks to all

I have recently fitted the Hayman Reece unit. Cost $460 fitted (soldered electrics included). I am very happy with the compact design - does little damage to the departure angle.

Picked up my SVX yesterday.
Very happy :)
As mentioned before the fronts seats are excellent. The back seats are also leather & cloth and are much more comfortable than expected.
The addition of the rubber mats over the carpet reduces the noise even more.
The much vaunted stereo system is OK although the radio reception is terrible...hopefully it's a problem that can be sorted out...
I was going to post some pics, but the wife left the camera at work.
Also got a window tint and LR tow bar.
In less than 24 hours I've had 2 "looks like a Hummer" comments. Hope I never hear than again..
Overall much better than anticipated, and although they are costly..I now think you get what you pay for.
Cheers

Maybe the "Hummer" comment is because of the move from Classic to plastic for this model.....;)

What is wrong with the original seats that would justify the extra money

They have taken away the ability to remove the top and charge extra to fit a sunroof

An Ipod connection??????? $5 piece of wire????????? I did that when I was 18 on my Zook to hook up a CD player.

I am sorry but if that is the best LR can do for a 60th anniversary model no wonder they are now answering to the Telstra call centre employee "Kevin from Melbourne".

Thank god I found a County and didn't end up buying a Puma. Better yet I still have $60000 in mods to catch up on the purchase price
