Impressed with the fuel economy (L322)

Went for a weekend away to a state tourist destination.

The trip computer says we were travelling for 10L/100km not bad for nearly 3 tonne, family, luggage and 120km/h cruise.
Around town for the last two weeks sits between 11-11.9L/100Km.
Bits I like is mechanical fuel gauge is in litres and the MFD display tells you how far you can travel before empty and if that isn't enough the car computer nd the GPS gang up on the driver to let him know via the GPS aswell;)
Amusing things...ripple strips..if there wasn't a warning sign I wouldn't of felt them..Airbags definately are the most comfortable ride on a car I have ever driven in.
Gravel roads...in the Defender its a drive for your life......:D:D in the 322 its like driving on a normal road..corrugations are seen and barely felt, braking is no different ABS,DSC and TC take care of that, although I would like to travel at speed on these roads, common sense and years of experiance have me at a sedate 80km/h..

10L per 100 is great, i wonder what the v8td would do in real life?

I've been really impressed with that 6 cyl diesel (I am presuming your 2006 is the BMW 3.0L).

Lightly loaded and cruising I have seen an average of 8.9L/100 on the computer readout on mine.

The missus can make it use 13L/100 around town though :mad:

I would have expected better. My V6 gets down to 10.5L/100k on the highway, fully loaded, on cruise and my mates D3 TDV6 get's down into the 7's.

I see many figures through the w/shop & always have a look at the LM RR.
On average i see 10-11 on the TD6. Yes they also drink if treated harsh 15-16 on occassion.
On average on the TDV8 i see 10.5....Yes u saw right...I also have a great customer who does a lot of K's & averages 8.9.
Drives from Sale to Melb just about every day & goes to his office in the CBD. Quite good fuel economy considering his nearly 3T beast.
Cant wait till he trades it for a new one:D;)

Hi Dirty, best I ever got from my 2003 was an average of 9.1L/110 on an later night/early morning run from GC to Sydney via the putty.

There was virtually no traffic and the speedo rarely got down to the seep limit and I kept it no higher that 10 above.

Often averaged low 10L/100 around town and it nerve chewed much fuel at any time.

The TDV8’s best trip was when I bought it home from Melbourne via the Newell and was nursing it. It was averaging mid 9L/100.

I usually get 12L/100 around town whit the TDV8.

All pretty good figures considering the vehicle weight and I can see why they skipped the D3's V6 in favour of an economical powerful V8 diesel.

I have also heard of mid 8's per 100km out of a TDV6 rangie on long flat drives. Pretty good considering that is about what my old subaru sportswagon used to get, a bit of a size difference.
