D11 front brake pads

Hi guys

Looking at changing the brake pads on the front of the disco any tips would be great.

Biggest problem is pushing the pistons back into the calipers. I used one of the old pads and a 'G' clamp and just wound it back slowly. Then you have to be real quick to reposition it over the new pads before the pistons creep out again.

I do similar, except I use a large flat screwdriver to lever the pads to push the pistons back in to the caliper before flipping the caliper. It also prevents damage to the piston boots.

and they have to be ALL the way back in,,,

keep an eye on the brake fluid res if you've topped up---

just make sure you pump the brake pedal till you get a pedal......

I thought the best idea was to crack the bleed screw open so any rubbish that has collected in the piston/caliper can be pushed out to waste and not back up the brake hose ;)

Not only does it make it easier to retract the piston into the caliper, it also gives a small bleed of the brake system.

And you don't have to keep an eye on the reservoir if you have topped up.

mmmmmmmmm maybe should have looked into that. but there working a treat so i think ill leave as isfor now.
