you check the part numbers for the northern or souther hemisphere ones?
if youve gotten the wrong ones the helical cut of the gear will be the wrong way round with relation to the coriolis effect of the oil and this unscrews the drain plug....
:P
have fun setting them up.

Mine would last one trip from here to WA, then I had bronze paint for oil and neck snapping backlash to contend with. In its defence, it made it all the way home afterwards, towing . At one point near Ceduna on a 40Deg day,we had 100Deg C of transfer case oil temps!! And it got me home still:D:D
Try THAT with late model ' modern' gearboxes.:p:p:p

Dave, you have it wrong. The Southern Hemisphere drain plugs should have a Torrington bearing between two Chigaco Rawhide seals so they don't overtighten under the effect of the opposite rotation. Without this component you have the oft encountered problem of the fixed in place and stripped out drain plug. Late model LR's with the Torx plug are apparently prone to this side effect. P38 Ron can probably enlighten us as to manufacturers quality control and the effectiveness of this system. He probably has bought 40 or 50 of them before finding one that works. I can supply the multistart left and right hand combination double diameter taps and dies for those who wish to make their own southern hemisphere drain plugs.
