Just interested to know if a Series 3 gearbox can be fitted into an early Series 2A. With the clutch mechanisms being different, are there any dramas swapping the boxes?

G'day All, No it can be done, as I did one of mine just recently, I used the S2A bell/housing and clutch release mechanism onto the S3 box, or alternativley use all S3 but you will have to run the S3 fluid line across the B/head to the left side. If your G/box is out of a 6cyl 109 S3 you will have to change the bell housing to the S2A type which is no big deal, if I can do it and I'm a Reg/nse anyone can do it cheers and get into it Dennis:angel:
PS the reason I changed mine to S2A was I didn't know whether the PTO line shaft would clear the S3 clutch mechanism,,

its an easy swap, providing you have all the components of the clutch from the master cylinder down and you change the pressure plate
Whats your plan for the 2a box?

We had to cut a notch in the crossmember to allow clearance for the new slave cylinder position when fitting a s3 box into a 11a chassis.
cheers
