Well this morning, we had an early start and headed in with the Mack Truck, and the 90.
We ended up going in at the bottom due to the water tower entrance being blocked.
Took us about 40 minutes to get to the base of the creek, including some fairly technical stuff.
anyway....
I went in first (last time we were here I got in about a car length and that was it!)

This time I was a bit more succesful, with spotting from Mick, we were through the big rocks safely, although it did feel like it was going over at one point!
Parked up and started to guide Mick, Got over the first section but then it slipped sideways and caught the track rod and the rear tow frame.
We did a bit of track building with the aid of a highlift, and we were going to just twaek it up with a pull from the winch.
It didnt work. Solenoid was stuck.....;) bugger.
We eventually managed to get out backwards with Micks car after deciding that going any further with out a winch on teh second car was a mistake (this creek run if you havent seen it is very very full on, and about 500-600m long)
We then turned mine round and attempted to get it out, and did this in the trees!....

So does that mean i have still made it the furthest
Time for a new solenoid pack Mick. I am pretty sure i have already told you i replaced mine after it started playing up at Cruiser Park. Has been fine since.

lol:p you bugger! Yes it sure does! Unless you count walking the entire length of it as getting further!!
Harry, luckily it didnt break the glass, so I just re-shaped the roof and put it all back together.
Mick, looking at the line you got me to take, I should have had you higher up the rocks. Will know for next time!

Bit late now.............will settle for some help bending the track rod straight again:p:p
Philippe, need to get a new solenoid pack (where do i get that sort of stuf then including all the bits to wire to cab?) and plan to wire it all up with some in cab controller..............GCLRO electrics day perhaps:angel: as I know next to nothing about electrics.
Justin, need to talk to you about your track rod protrecting diff guards as thats the front and the back rod I've done now:(
Definitely keen to conquer this beauty of a track again soon, so once my car is fixed, i'm there with bells on:D

I am so gealous of you guys!
With reguards to the winch solenoid, I would recommend getting a big titan unit (one big solenoid inplace on the warns 4/5) now while it is worth it. Most places are about $150 but I beleive I can get you one cheaper so if you want one let me know!

Would absolutely love to get back into it and straight into this track, as I think it will be way to challenging for me, but I love that, and it will help me to learn how to wheel all over again!

I am 80% I know which track your talking about but last time I was there (nearly three years ago) it was sporting a lot more vegitation, it was also known to some as the buggy proving ground.
Correct me if I am wrong, but is it part of the extended version of this small track shown bellow?

Actually looking at your point of entry seems like you guys are tackling this track from the other end, unless I am mistaken and the track is actually not the one I am thinkin of at all.
Ow man I have a wicked itch!

I reckon thats a different track Grimace, so thats now 2 we need to do!!!:)
MickG
21st October 2008, 08:57 AM
Yeah I'd say that's a different track as in the back ground there appears to be another "easy" track. The track we are talking about is pretty closed in the whole way with one way in and one way out.....unless you can turn around and head out the way you came in:eek: The track we are talking about definitely has some sections like those in your pics and some a bit worse:twisted::D
Havong said that, we walked the track which goes for ages and it brings you out on a track I know. It crosses this track and also continues for a bit so it could be part of it. Only way to find out Grimace is to saddle up and join the convoy:D:D

The tarck i am on there is a lead up teaser to the buggy proving grounds, once you are past the small section pictured (only about 20meters) it joins to about 200 meters of track (thats the extended part) that I thought you guys may have stumbled upon
But if I am mistaken then as Pete mentioned, there is now two sweet tracks to tackle
Haha along with the tower of terror, I found some pics of it in my old ormeau folder this morning. Will attach them shortly!

Tell me about it, I actualy don't think I would drive it these days, not until I had atleast a good few months practice and constant wheeling under my belt.
The scaryiest part is when I think back to it, I had to reverse down that part in the second photo 3 times and keep hitting it harder (as I was unlocked), back then I was giggling about it all.... now I cringe! I remember seeing the sky a lot and trusting my instincts much more then I would in this present day!
I loved that car, and miss it even more :(

Those pictures do not do the tower of terror justice.......that track is rediculous and I am pretty sure I will never drive it.......even the chicken track is very full on:eek:
Grimace, you could be right about being on the first part of the track we are talking about. The start (ar at least where we went in) does have a left (going down) and a right (going up) so maybe it is the same place. You'll just need to come along next time to find out:D
Aye, Mick

The pics Grimace posted were from the lower section that we play in, I dont think you have driven it Mick so you may not recognise it :p I drove left of that line when i did it the first time and then if you remember Pete and I did the line to the right under that tree (and i have scars to prove it) the first time we ventured in to the new creek section. We walked the buggy playground which is a big 2mtr rock step and then drove out the dog leg up to the top track (which then heads left down to the new creek or up to the puddle Steinzy drowned in ;)) Sound familiar?
Still in two minds on heading back into this :( Hate the thought of the disco being off the road for another 2 months )

Hey Philippe,
Yes your right. We had a technical meet in Micks garage last night with Louis, Grimace, and myself and worked out where it was while straightening a track rod!
I dont think its too bad as you go further. The track does have some nice sections.
Do you know what did the damage to your power steering yet?
This is the high line that Philippe is metioning

awesome!!
i know that track, watched a nissan have trouble on it and gary did it in his jeep, as usual i chickened out [i think i stuffed my front diff on the chicken track]
you guys should eat it, it's only the line that is the problem, most pick the wrong one.
as for the creek, i also watched once before and had to winch myself out on the chicken track!
oh, pardon me, 'chicken track' is not a politically correct term, but it suits me to use it as i chickened out and am proud of it.

Harry,
Is that the red cherokee? Does it have lockers?
I would be amazed if he could drive it up there? Are you sure its the same track? It turns 90 degrees left near the top and you have to get up a step about a metre high at the same time:eek:
JC, it looks even worse in real life!
