Well I may have done a bad thing... a very bad thing.

Due to growing family and business needs it was time to get a bigger vehicle so the For Sale sign went on the Disco at lunchtime then up the road to a prominent spot.

Just after 3 the phone rings, meet the guy at the vehcile and he goes for a drive.

Money should change hands Middle of this week

:(

Now what to replace it with??? Might be one of those dirty Japenese models.....

Sorry had to vent and knew you guys (and girls) would understand

Well, it may not be a bad thing if it suits your current needs/ situation to get rid of it. Wish you well with the replacement and expanding family and business! (A Defender would do the job real nice I reckon:wasntme:)

The more I think about it, the more a 130 DC would suit everyones needs...A ute for work, and a family vehicle too:D:D:D:D

You know you can't be without a landy....

Talk it through with us....

where do you need the extra space? cargo area or seating?

110 or 130 sounds like just the thing AND you get to stay with the LR family :D I agree....bigger how? Obviously looking at Disco's they come in a 7 seater...we have all ours filled up. Business reasons....in what respect? I cannot think of any japper than can offer something over an LR when it comes to larger requirements for family or business. If I ever even contemplated a japper, I would be sure to have a mate take a cricket bat to my nether regions

If it's extra seats you're after, Toyota make a nice troop carrier!:D

a commercial vehicle that carries over 1,000kg and can legitimately be claimed for work (no matter what percentage of use is work related) is 100% Tax deductible (unless the ATO has changed the rules). That makes a 130DC a very attractive vehicle. Annual depreciation is about 26% and all the servicing, fuel & add-ons can be claimed. Check with your accountant before trusting my financial advise though.

if you need more passanger room, a 110 is great for the kids while they're young, the back seat is higher and they get a good view out.

The problem with a 110 for anyone with a growing family (by which I assume that a new one is on the way) is providing child safety seat restraints - from what I've read elsewhere on this forum).

Sorry for the slow reply.. IT'S GONE.... He came up with the money quicker than he expected.

Size is an issue for 2 reasons, cargo space and another baby on the way (We have twins who are 6 and a daughter who is 3)

Deefer does sound good...... but child restraints and seating is still an issue.. and getting one at the right price.

Sorry but voth Patrol and Cruiser offer lots more room when the rear seat is not in use than the Disco... although did see an auto 300Tdi for sale..... LOL

Thanks for the suggestions!

D3: extra seats (real seats) extra cargo area (and seats don't eat into it) and the wife will love it!:D

Yep D3 is the answer !

Where you get the $ is another Q entirely.

110 with the seat in the middle at the front instead of cubby box.

Lap sash seat belt only, but I reckon a booster seat with an integral harness will do the trick.

Or a new model 110 with seven seats.

Not like I've thought it about it much.

Twins and two month old, but Rilka's already planning on one more.

Have your folks got of the Okka yet?

Now that would make a good family car :D

Dont worry about it Cookiesa,

To make a decent LR Ive been told it needs :

350 Chev or Isuzu engine
Nissan or Turbo box
Modified LR transfer case or a Nissan transfer case aswell
Nissan or Toyota Diffs

There's nothing wrong with buying a japper as long as you dont want your vehicle to have any personality or attitude :p

Just dont buy a Pootrol with a ZD30 in it

Lol, any reason to ban Mcrover :p

Good editing there to I must add but there is nothing wrong with an 80 series, I had one before I came to my senses, I actually bought it while looking for a Disco in the first place but then it got crashed so then Casper came along :clap2:

Thanks for the support..... and bruises! LOL

First Impressions..... (comparing 94 300Tdi Manual to 91 4L Dual Fuel auto)

The Toyota has no personality.
The Toyota has no oil leaks :)
Power feels similar but of course Toy much heavier and an auto
CV's were a bitch to replace! (Knew they needed doing when purchased.... how come everyone say's they generally last 100K when Toys are so "unbreakable"! LOL)
Lots more room in the Toy, even with all the seats in use! (Woo hoo.. now have 8 seats!)
I want to hit the person who mounted the gas converter above the coil... right were it is a ***** to get to.
I like no timing belt or chain. :)
I don't like the 50 thousand hoses running everywhere!
What the hell is with the electric under bonnett heat extraction system???
So far I have confirmed my first thoughts... I like barn doors.
Ride is very similar although stiffer in the Toyota... you miss the body roll on roundabouts!
lots more room around the pedals!

60L (54 useable) Gas tanks are stupid on a big 4x4

Cost of running... Little more than the Disco, using around 25l gas per 100km around Adelaide. But considering the extra weight/size I don't think it is too bad... Of course if you want to race everyone and drive in soft sand that would no doubt get scary!

Has it put me off a landy in the future.... NO way!

By the way I have a bonnett release cable in the shed... will check if I have any other "bits" if anyone in Adeliade wants them they will be going for the price on 1x 600ml FU Ice Coffee Will post any other items soon.
