G'day all
Well,it has been a long time coming. After what has been an absolute rotten year, with my father being placed in a high care nursing home for dementia, and my beautiful sister losing her fight against cancer at only 50 years of age, I have almost finished off Basil.
Sprayed it myself (first time I have ever done it) along with a mate. It's not top notch, but it will do me, and I reckon it looks the goods. The missus and kids love it, and doesn't it pull some smiles and waves when driving it :)
Anyway, here are a couple of pics.

Still a few things to do, but I'll get there. Anyhoo, just wanted to share it with you good folk.

Your right Mick they do look very similar...what year is Basil, and petrol or diesel??
You've done a good job it, and you can't beat the open top:), well least here in Qld:cool:
I like the little torno cover for the front, good idea. I'm having one made up for the rear of mine once I re mount the spare on the bonnet.
Keep up the good work.
Cheers

It's a 1958 SII, with the petrol engine. Only 34,000 original miles. It has a cab roof which I have stripped the paint off, removed the windows, rubbers and channel, and will spray in the very near future. But with summer coming, it's way too much fun having no roof and the windscreen flat!:D
The torno is great. It clips onto the doors and also the studs along the top of the dash.

I also have the original rims with tyres. I'll strip the rims and respray white. Should look good.

Same year as mine, Mick.
Does/did yours have the 2L IOE or the 2.25?

2.25 mate. Goes like the clappers ! LOL

LOL!
Mine originally would have had a 2L in it - it is a very early '58. It has a yucky 186 in it at the moment though! It goes like... well, it doesn't actually. :p
I will be putting a 2.25 in it soon though. I have a nice and tight 2.25 in Ambrose, but being so freakin' big he don't go like the clappers... :lol2:

mate
not bad, considering all the distractions,
who helped with the spray job? Cunno?
how is the fire truck going?
you still in or are you in the land of the 'very happy'.

No, another mate did. If it was Cunno's, it'd have taken a decade to finish!! :p
That was the fire truck JE. I would have loved to have brought it back to what it was, but it would have meant a lot more time, searching and money. I'm happy with it. Still in mate....waiting, waiting.....

Oh must have missed something in the translation, thought it was separate to the fire truck, i take it you kept the fire truck bits
at least if cunno had done it, it would be a mirror finish and defect free!
I'll send you a pm on the rest

Looking good...You get a lot of satisfaction from sitting back and saying " I did that" ......well you certainly done more than me, I am still mucking around in the cabin, got some of the wiring sorted now I am fighting with the seat box:o.

And who could blame your little guy?
Of course he wouldn't know where to start but you've got to admire him for aiming high.
Talk about stacked.
I don't usually go for blondes but that pout and the suit is to die for.
BTW, the Landy is totally HORN! :p
It should look even cooler with the OG rims and tyres.

love the tonneau, always good to see another resurrected.
The rain made me put my roof on, bummer.
