Can anybody please help...
I bought a 93 Rangie 4 weeks ago and have got it on the road last week. I had a few things to do to get it road worthy. Everything works, well was.

Two days ago I pulled the front left hub off to check the wheel bearing. It was shot and so was the spline and cap. I bought a new CV and cap today and fitted everything back in.
Now when I drive the ABS light stays on and the warning light " ! " comes on.
I’ve tried to search for tips on what to look for, but just chase my tail.
After spending so much time on it over the last 4 weeks I’m about ready to send it to the wreckers!!!!.

If somebody could give me some tips on what to look for, I'd much appreciate it.

Thanks Pete

It sounds like you have dislodged the sensor.

A sensor is mounted at each wheel, sensing off a 60 tooth excited ring.

The sensor sends a signal to the ecu.

The front exciter rings are fitted to the outside diameter of the CV joint.

The sensor is mounted vertically at the top of the housing, it sounds as if the air gap is too wide after working on it. The sensor is a push fit into a spring retainer, just give the outer edge of the sensor a light tap to knock it all the way back down. yes it will touch the exciter ring but it will get pushed back up and give the correct gap

Yup, what Al said!

Out of interest, was the new CV the same as the old one,IE did it have a serrated type of ring around it?:o
That is the sensor ring for the ABS...

Thanks for that, Yes it did have the sensor ring or serrated ring on the big end. I guess i've knocked the sensor back or it's to far away from the spline for the new CV. I'll push or tap it all the way in and see if that fixes the problem.

Thanks for everybodys help.:D

I taped the ABS sensor on the front left CV all the way in and spun the hub. Then removed the ABS relay and turned the ignition on and shorted the pins on the plug. I noted the error code 2 – 14 (front left sensor) then removed the link and waited until the code stoped flashing and repeated the process. No more error codes. Put everything back to gather and went for a drive. No more ABS and “ ! “ lights on.

Thanks everybody again, I’ve settled down now and I’m not calling the wreckers!
I love this forum and the help you get. :)
