I have a '68 Series IIa trayback and the indicator switch itself is buggered.
The RHS indicator is stuck on and nothing I can do stops it.
Does anyone have a spare one of these they don't need?
I've already rung Land Vehicle Spares and they have none in at present.
Any help?

OK - SII and SIII are out of my experience. I jump from Series I straight to TD5!

Yep, it's a IIa with the little rubber wheel.
I'm presently trawling the Landy spare parts mobs but aside of an item which will serve the purpose but is not standard I'm not having much luck.

Hmmm...

Can I assume you've dismantled the blinker switch housing and found the actual switch bit at fault? I found my blinkers hard to turn on and off recently, so I pulled my unit off and opened it up. Loose screws galore! Works like new now. If yours is completely shot, I'll see what I've got in my collection, but distance from you may be an issue...

2/2a and 3 blinker switches are different. It may be possible to use a 2a unit on a 3 column (though the self-canceling wheel won't work), but not vice-versa. And besides, you can't fix a S3 switch if something minor goes wrong.

Hi Dan,
Thinking it was probably some muck or caught up bits I stripped it down and found a lot of dirt and dust but all of the screws were tight and I found that even with the arm and wheel removed it still was jammed with the RHS indicator on.
That's the weird thing.....the you can even turn on the LHS indicator using the switch but the RHS keeps going regardless.
Worst still, because it's jammed on it heats up and smokes a little.
I'd be very appreciative if you have one you'd be willing to part with.
If you like I'll take a pic and post it so you know what I need.
Incidentally, my indicator has the little bulb AND the rubber wheel.

How many terminals are on your flasher unit? It should be 3, but I've found a very late 2a unit that uses 2 terminals. The 3 terminal flasher sends 5 wires to the indicator switch, the 2 terminal has 4.
I can get you the whole unit, though each has minor mechanical faults, or I can send you just the required electrics (switch and loom).

My switch has 3 wires and an earth wire on it.
It also has the bulb socket in it.
I'll take a pic if you like.
Just the switch will be fine though.
If you have a rubber wheel which is in half decent shape I'd also be very appreciative.
Thnks for this, Dan.

Here are the pics of the switch and the indicator unit so you know exactly what I'm after.
The unit is a TEX MAGNA-LITE made by Magnatex.
The model number on the back says S1580Type.
Hope these are clear enough:

Thanks for this.
I really need the car for the weekend of 7th, 8th and 9th November as we'll be heading out into the bush in it.
Let me know if you need any other info.

Thanks for the tip but a mate from a VW forum (of all places!!) got me one and so I'm all sorted now.
And anyhow, that one must be from II or a III because the IIa is different.
