Would like to give a big thumbs up to some of Australias national Parks and their camp sites.

Yes I have moaned about the state of some of the bush campsites in Australia. Most if not all of the poor quality (i.e. rubbish strewn ) have been outside the national parks system.

In the Bungle Bungles Park (fantastic scenery) the two camp sites there have waterless longdrop toilets. Someone there has had the brillant idea of putting a toilet brush and a small bucket of water in each dunny. A brillant idea and keeps the toilets clean. Well done that man.

Litchfield National Park needs to give one of their guys a pay rise. Why? For putting simple showers in their toilet blocks. Brillant and very welcomed idea. Pity that lack of water means that showers can not be provided in more of the camp sites.

Gregory National Park has put a new 4wd track in

Not a technically difficult track so I do not understand why need 3 hours to drive 20 km. Would put this track in the very pleasant track catogory. Well worth a drive if you are in the area

Makes a change from the national parks in the UK who are closing the green lanes, banning power boats etc etc Can not see a UK national park putting up sensible 4wd advice like this

So a big thumbs up to some of your national parks.

It might have been a woman :D

Hi there Brendan, glad to hear you're still going well traveling around & enjoying the National Parks. Lucky you are up there and not here in Adelaide as Becky has gone mad painting things (she's on to the laundry ATM) and I have been conscripted as her assistant. I was going the swap wheels and tyres from my 130 to the Disco but that has been postponed until next weekend.

Keep up the good work posting. Always nice to read what you've been up to.
Cheers
David

I think that the more we try to work in with the NPWS, the more they will realise that we are actually 'greener' than the 'extreme greens'. I have found that many of the NP Rangers are quite approachable and helpful and are actually listening to the people who actually appreciate and use the bush.

Only last week I was camped in a NP in northern NSW (where vehicle based camping is still possible) and while chatting with the ranger about where we were planning on going the next day, he was good enough to advise us of track conditions and also of a very nice camp spot which we took advantage of.
