hi guys,just want to know if anyone on here has mounted there laptop in there disco1 with the older dash pre 93 style,where did you put it and what did u use to mount the laptop,im thinking of having it in front of the passenger seat and removing the hand holder thingy???only gunna run it in the bush and on trips away,any ideas will be of help

I use a ram mount to support my laptop in a 98 disco. I don't put it on the dash though.

The base of the ram mount is positioned above the centre console, on the left side, and in a line between the gear and hi/low levers.

The keyboard goes above the gear lever and I have it rotated a bit toward the driver.

I don't normally have passengers, but it would not prevent passengers, and if they were navigating, it could be turned to the passenger.

I've been through many days of rough conditions without any issues with the mount. I haven't had any issues with the laptop either, but you would expect that with a toughbook.

Ask stikman, i think he has his mounted on the dash (old stile dash)

If you still need to get a notebook to put into the disco Mick, you might be interested in this

It is a compact sized notebook that looks like it would be a good size for vehicle mounting and is $498.

However it is only available for the next 24 hours.

Ask stikman, i think he has his mounted on the dash (old stile dash)

Mine was just a temp install for the Coffs trip but yeah, had it strapped to the grab rail running through a touch screen mounted on the dash between the instruments and grab rail. Removing the grab rail and fixing it properly would probably work OK but i dont really like the heat and direct sunlight of being on the dash.

have bought the laptop already and have put oziexplorer on it just need maps of the areas i go but thanks for the info

hi mate gunna run it only on trips and the laptop is a cheap one so it can get bashed around,how did you fix it on there
