Hainsy, Glad to see you've found one! I have had 2 defenders and they both were sold with 6 year corrosion warranty.
My 110 had floor rust after 4 years and was cleaned up and repainted by Land Rover under warranty.
May be worth ringing Land Rover and see if you're still covered.
Got some pics of your new beasty?

I think there was some issue with the 2003 models, I've seen a number including mine with rusty chassis' at the rear where the paint has failed. I had my chassis repainted under warranty - 6 year rust warranty. I had to fight hard - because they only cover penetrative rust - not chassis rust, but they decided to cover mine. It's interesting cause Ive got a 66 S11a with it's original paint and that's still black and shiny....

Give Land Rover a ring you might be surprised

An easy way, if you haven't got any fancy software, is to use MS PAINT - Use the IMAGE then RESIZE keep shrinking it down until your happy ;)

5 years old, surface rust, bought as is - unfortunately I don't think he will be surprised :(.

LR will also ask to see the annual corrosion inspection reports too.
How many owners have that done ?

Take your point Scouse but I'd still give 'em a go anyway - I had no drama's however mine had been serviced by LR so that probably included said inspection.

I have gone to pains to make sure they do the corrosion inspection each year. They keep giving me clean bills of health though :)
Good luck with it Hansy. Any chance of a photo of the truck, and the affected areas?

That's good. I wish everyone would have it done.

The amount of cars I see that get serviced outside the dealer network (nothing wrong with that) & miss all the annual corrosion inspections is incredible.

And it's always these cars that have corrosion problems :(.

Mind you... last weekend I sprayed 4 litres of CRC into it's underbelly in preparation for our Fraser trip and it will get another 4 when we get back once it's dry after the cleaning :o It wouldn't want to show any rust....or I'd throw 20 at it next time...
