This is where I am up to.

This started life as a early 50 model . When I got it, it had a Holden 161 fitted and a home made grill and a banged up chassis . It looks better in the pics than in the real world ! I've 'fixed' it up with a 54 2 litre engine and a 56? gearbox and trans case. It's got a 51 grill fitted as I want to pass the roadworthy with half decent headlights! not 2 candlepower things that the tester would laugh at.

I have had a new draw bar fabricated and I re-welded it on as it had been gas axed off by a previous kind owner. The front fish plates were badly mangled so i changed over to the later style bumber .

The top on it is an original factory top.. on loan .. its a later top for the curved bows .. but its a start as a pattern. The canvas is quite heavy , around 20 oz stuff.

I wonder if I will live long enough to drive it on the road.

That S1 is in good shape. Nice one.
I'm slowly trying to restore a 49 but want the old lamps as it was here since new so originality is important to me. Do you have a set in captivity?.
I also have a 50 model 80" here with a mid 50s 2 ltr in it and they go very well. Have usable torque in 4th gear at idle up with no transmision hamer.
Cheers Tony

Looks great Mike! Nice to see one that isn't over-restored.

I don't know why you call it a roughy - I think it is a little ripper :D

Cheers Charlie

She's a beaut Mike well done. Don't call her "a heap" and give her a real name!:D
