Hello All,
I seems that the on going seek, replace destroy mission on my 130 Tdi is turning up all kinds of interesting things. The latest or should I say the one I have ignored the longest are the rear half shafts (drive shafts -not too sure of the correct term) Ive read a bit about Maxi drive and know they are no longer in business but have changed hands? I have also read about Ashcrofts- I think?
What is the best solution and what are the costs involved, and can they be replaced by me with limited skills? Please advise:):)
Thanks
Malcolm

You mean the rear axles/axle shafts/halfshafts. The axle and the drive flange both usually wear, so you need to replace both. I think the new ones are around $800 a pair for HYTUFF Engineering axles (Same as MD), and another $200-300 for a pair of drive flanges.

They are VERY easy to replace.
