Hi,

Have a problem with our internet connection.

If we don't use the internet for 10 minutes or so, we can't access the web.

The thing is though we can still acces email.

A reboot and all is well for a while.

Any ideas?

We are with Bigpond

Hi Davey,

If you are locked into Telstra plan, then call tech support.
Ask, (insist!) to know if you are on are Pair Gaining line. This is 'Telstra speak 'for getting two users on the one line & saving them from running extra cables. What this means is that voice comms are OK, but ADSL is half the speed.
If you complain telstra will quickly rectify as what they are doing is in contravention to their contract to you.

I have used many providers, but found TPG to give the best service, highest speed & cheapest plans than anyone else. Most plans also include IPTV which gives you equivalent to Foxtel free.

Dunno if this is the case, but some Speedtouch models are prone to overheating and rebooting randomly.

Check out the whirlpool forum with your model number, there are heaps of threads.

Cheers

Thanks for all the replies everyone.

Finally fixed the problem.

It was a browser issue, IE6.
Reset all internet options to default, cleared all stored data including passwords.

Bingo! good as new.

Davy.
