Hi Guys
Advice please.
Setting up a power outlet as part of my rear drawer/fridge system.
In the past the boy runs his laptop via an inverter(we plug a good surge protector into it).
The inverter will be hardwired into the second battery to be installed to be used if 240V is needed.
What is the best and safest way to provide DC to DC power for our laptops?(both Toshiba Satellites) I would like to incorporate it into the setup.

The one I got from Jaycar for $49 runs my Toshiba Satellite in my car no problems - has been going for two years now.

Be very careful with 12V upconverters.
I bought a Projecta 3500MA converter for my NEC, as my power supply is 3500MA.
First time used it blew up.
This apparently damaged the power supply of my NEC , so that now it will not start from "off" reliably. So I have had to buy another laptop as I cannot be guaranteed that the NEC will start when off. Of course I cannot leave it on standby when on the road for days.
I have found that Next G is only available in larger places where there are powered sites, or if not I use the Jaycar 300W sine wave converter.
So I Found you do not really need the 12V converter anyway.
By the way the Jaycar one looks the same as the projecta one so be careful. Only reason I bought The Projecta was that the Jaycar one did not have the correct adaptor for NEC.

I have no idea what Satellite models there are, but I have always run my oldish Satellite 4090xcdt (including the docking station) directly off 12V when its in the vehicle, even though its 240v power supply outputs 15V.
