I know this probably belongs in the TV section but I think it has broader interest.
Last night they road tested three of the top end RV's.
An Audi Q7, a Lexus LX 570 & a Rangie Vogue.
They went from Alice Springs to Normanton then across through the Daintree to the coast.
Back at the studio after the trek, they combined their experiences in the cars they drove, but in the final analysis, the RR was the preferred 4x4. Unanimous & an absolutely hands down shoo-in.
And the way it performed it was no wonder.

The VW Tourag V10 would have been an interesting contender

i have to admit i didn't even bother watching this week. such a shame they stuffed the chance of making a good show. it was also showing signs of being corrupted too.
notice in the story about a floating car that the car was an audi, the onlookers were wearing audi merchandise and even one of the yachts was an audi yacht.
the whole success of the real top gear, and it's progenitor ,CAR magazine before it, was the freedom to call a dog a dog. (or in jezza's latest outing, to imply all truckies are prostitute murderers !)

That'd be cause it's sponsored by Audi, "Audi Hamilton Island Race Week" and it's the reason they chose an Audi.

and there is the rub........james may's triumph herald convertible held no possible commercial connotations. that's precisely why it was funny. a quality that seems to so elude the antipodean version.
