A big thank you to Brian and Karen otherwise known as Lewy and Mrs Lewy for looking after my 110 and putting Jon and me up.

Currently we are in Katherine after travelling through Litchfield Park.
I need to source a replacement rear door window. Might go for the opaque look. As we drove into Katherine temp begun to rise. In morning will fit the viscous fan on as we do not think it is dragging enough air in.
On way down Staurt Highway we found the old highway. Made for much more interesting driving!

Regards

Brendan

Can't believe you're running with out the VC fan. One of those things you read about and think "who'd do that" - probably because its so damned hot up this way;)

Enjoy the trip, shame you couldn't make it over to the east where Stuuu & I are. You'll pass the turnoff 51 km south of Katherine look for the sign Central Arnhem Highway/Bullman/Nhulunbuy. Its about 10 hours drive from there or 680 km and by all reports the tracks 640 km of corrugations at present.

The 110 was running on an Aussie fitted electric fan. The original Kenlowe fan wiring burnt out within 5 miles of leaving Sydney docks. High pressure water (curtsey of Aussie Quarentine people) and electrics do not mixed.

Was carrying the viscous fan as a spare.

The Aussie fitted fan was originally a 12 blade fan but when we took it off it was a 5 blade fan! The main reason for the 110 getting hot was a hole in the top of oil cooler section. Hole was caused by the bolt through top radiator retaining frame just touching the rad. A few million corrugations later the bolt had worn a small hole in top of radiator.

Cost 10$ to get it brazed back up and pressure tested, which was a bargain price.

Got a piece of polycarb to replaced the shattered rear window. That is next job before heading towards Halls Creek and down the Tamanari track.

Brendan
