Agreed. I've worked with them for nearly 40 years and can attest to that.

Agree with you Frenchie.
One of my Bro-in-laws is a Yank (ex-Marine too). They have done many good things for the world, and saved Australia as a country. Sometimes we are too quick to forget that.
(They are loud & their movies are $)%^ but) :D

Yup that was the guy with the broken pelvis (plus two smashed ankles). Poor bugger had been lying here for two weeks in a lot of pain so everyone was very relieved to see him on his way. The crew here did a fantastic job pulling together to look after him, keep the station running and build the ice runway. The aircrew said it was the best ice runway they had ever landed on.

He was a cook wasn't he??? So speaking of food - who is doing the cooking now and what is it like?

I heard Dr Karl say the other day : when they designed the C130 they got a truck and just bolted wings and an engine on until it flew ;)

Apparently the longest ever takeoff for a C130 was 50km!!! Rescuing a group of researchers in the arctic circle!!! They were taking off on flat ice, with an overloaded plane. They threw monitors and computers out of the back until it lifted off.

Dwayne was the winter chef. We brought some more with us.

The food is plentiful and superb. Sometimes fresh stuff runs a little low but we are very well looked after. On the ship it's even better and with less to do it's very hard not to overeat. ;)

I get annoyed when people bag Americans as a reflex reaction. I always argue that there are just as many stupid Australians per capita but the yanks insist on doing their best to get on TV so we all get to see their stupids.

There are also plenty of real stupid pommie bogans, just try watching some British reality TV.

I married a girl from Tennessee once.

After a few weeks of wedded bliss she asked me,

"Why do you keep buying that cheap Black & Gold toilet paper Dave?"

"Because it is safe for Septics"

I always was sensitive & caring.

Any seal meat on the menu?

What about fishing opportunities?

Surely, no one can denigrate the US. Look at the opportunities they give people with disabilities...GWB had two goes; we wouldn't trust him with a pair of scissors here.

Sarah Palin could have been a heartbeat away from taking the wheel...and she thinks Africa is a country...not a continent.

Jonathan Green (http://blogs.crikey.com.au/jonathan/'source=cmailer)

No doubt about it...the US at it's greatest.
