Driving Lights to Disco 2

Is the D2 wiring loom pre-wired for driving lights?
If it is, is it easily recognised & do you just buy a genuine switch to suit?

I have a switch to the top & left of the steering wheel but I assume that is for fog lights.

The switch on your binnacle (that sounds painful) is for your rear fog lights.

I don't think the Disco 2 came pre wired for driving lights.

If you plan to fit a genuine switch from a breakers get the plug a small length of the wiring loom as well, makes wiring up a WHOLE lot easier. Theres plenty of space under the steering wheel (down behind flap near your knees) to mount relays etc, or you can put them under the bonnet near the original ones.

Not a big or complicated job, just take your time and keep it all neat.

No, there is a seperate loom, electronics box and switch for driving lights so it's not just a matter of connecting the switch.

The mention of an 'electronics box' worries me a bit.

It has the switch part numbers and a diagram. There was a wiring mistake, but from memory I corrected it, so double check the relay pin-outs.

My TD5 had the "factory" spot light kit installed, but it was VERY unreliable, sometimes the spots would work, sometimes not, other times they would come on as planned but go out after 2 or 3 or 4 mins or how long "they" decided. I have heard lots of others have had the same issues.

So I would "strongly" recommend you ignore / avoid the "factory kit"

In the end I used the wiring, but binned the control box, fitted a standard relay and I also used a additional lamp switch / crusie switch mix like dm_td5 did.. Now they work exactly as the factory kit, on with high beam only, but you can select the spots on or off with high beam / headlight flash using the switch

Used the same method with my roof rack lights as well, although they can be switched on any time with or without headlights. All the details are on my webpage if your interested.

You could use your own loom but need to source a locking switch for the binnacle (not sure if there is one) The switch supplied with the OEM wiring kit is momentary (I assume that's what the electronic box is for) and the whole thing is operated by the BCU (I think)

As Franz said the Spot light switch is a momentary one
I used a rear wiper swich (which is an on/off type) and replaced the cap with a spotlight one (In my D1)
If you get a short length of he loom that plugs into the swich you can even get the backlight and on light working without too much trouble.

Thinking of the extra lights myself sometime-- why arent u using Davos shops Traxide combo upgrade kit?, looks the goods to me.
