Hi all, what year d1's had airbags fitted and were they fitted to all models?
Interested since you can't fit a bodylift with airbags.
thanks.

The airbag equipped D1s came out with the MA (1995 model year) which was released here in 1994.
There were a few different model runs. There was an 'S' spec for a while which didn't have airbags. Most cars had at least one though.

Also, some special order cars came without them too (some RFS cars).

At least one AULROian has removed the airbags from his vehicle if you wanted to go down that route.

I've got a 1994 Disco (MY95) with no airbags. When looking for mine I found discos without airbags right up into the 1998 year. So they're out there.

I was told by Qld Transport that I could remove the airbag system from a Disco1 as the airbags were an option.
I was also told I could bodylift an airbagged vehicle so long as the manufacturer gave the okay. They said that they didn't need to see the okay though to give their approval and have approved many 4wds with airbags and bodylift.
This wasn't from office folk either but the inspectors themselves.

Do a search mate, there has been some lengthy discussion on it before.

I have disconnected and removed mine due to bodylift.
I have a vicroads information sheet explaining the legalities and read it as being legal, due to them being an 'option'.

Dave.

Could you please send me a PM with the details for disconnection and removal as I also want to install bodylift legally. Will of course be getting RTA advice as well.

Cheers
