Has anybody got any links to good Chassis Number calculators for series 1s 88". I need one that has detail on what the second and third numbers on the chassis number means. Calvin does not give the level of detail required.
I did find one that listed about 10 variations eg LHD, RHD, Home, Export, CKD, SW, Basic etc but I cannot find it.
Thanks

Hello Garry,
i dont know of any links,but
the first number,means vehicle.1=Land Rover
the second number should be wheelbase.1=88",2=109",3 should=S/W.which were all 107".
the third number should be market the vehicle was made for.
1=RHD Home
2=RHD Export
3=RHD CKD Export
4=LHD Export
5=LHD CKD Export
the fourth number as you probably already know is year.6=1956,7=1957,
8=1958
the last five numbers are the actual vehicle number.
so a typical number for an 1957 88" in Australia should be e.g.113700128.
there are some differences when the 2ltr diesel etc were introduced.if you want that info i,ll dig it out to.
hope this helps.

Thanks Justin - I was hoping there may have been something in the chassis number that would also indicate a SWB station wagon as well.
Cheers

No worries Garry.
as far as i know the 86 and 88" S/W were all built on chassis within the normal numbering sequence.
for this reason i dont think that SWB S/W production numbers are really known only guessed at.
