I have the "other" hdd plugged into Rome,,
Rome see's it ok, can open files etc,,

How do I open and run the OS that on there,,,

Is this a second internal hdd ? or a usb device ?

You need to have the BIOS set to run two OS's. If the OS is already installed on the second drive, it may not work unless you modify the MBR to locate it and will also depend what OS it is in the first place.

But with a windows based system, AFAIK you can only select one at a time.
Mac allows you to run both Mac and Windows at the same time.

My only familiarity with Rome is the coluseum and all those hot Roman women!! :angel:

in the bios you can select which drive to set up as the first disk so you can boot from it..

or just change the jumpers on the drive..

What OS's are we talking here?
In XP edit the file in control panel/system/startup

If you install the OS while both HDD are in the computer, the installer should setup dual boot (sometimes you need to install the OS's in a certain order)

I've got a box with winXP/linux/solaris all on one HDD, just different partitions

Try that for rainy sunday ;)

ok,,
it has xp already installed on it,
all I want to do is open it up to ensure its ok,,
sooner or later this drive is going back in the other box,,

have already been into the bios,, there is no second HDD option,,

Romes HDD is SATA,, will it have slave/master pins??

Edit boot.ini file in XP to add an additional boot device...
