Has anyone had the problem of seeing the climate controls in the dark? I'm talking about the 2003 D2a model. I'm sure the buttons used to light up but can't find a reference to it. I'm guessing the panel has to come out and start sniffing around.
Any ideas?

There aren't any bulbs, they are LEDs and i don't know if they are replacable.

Had this problem and had lights fixed during a service so they must be some sort of replaceable lamp.

There are a total of 6 replaceable filament globes in the DII HVAC panel, and they are all available as a spare part.

There are three big globes that light up the display panel, and another 3 for the left and right temperature control and the two rows of buttons. Only one globe is responsible for back lighting the four small buttons underneath the display and the four large buttons.

It's not hard to replace the globes.

First of all you need to be able to pop the HVAC panel out of the center console. To do this, remove the coin and ash trays, then undo the six screws that are located behind the ash tray bays. This will allow you to remove the retractable cup holder.

The HVAC panel can now be removed if you press against the metal tangs that are on either side. On the left, its behind the clock, and on the right, it's behind the push button controls. Apply a lot of force as the tangs are fairly strong springs.

Once you get the HVAC panel out you need to disconnect the three cables.

You need to go to your LR dealer to get the replacement globes because you can't buy them easily.

Hope this helps!

While we're on dash lights, what about the std single CD/Radio channel button lights, are these replaceable?

These are not a replaceable part from LR, the head unit will need to be taken apart & the row of LED's unsoldered from the board, replacement LED's sought & refitted to the board.
If handy with a solding iron & patient enough it can be done.
Would do all at once as have had to do radio in 2-3 times first off....learnt lesson quickly.;)

It all worked perfectly, Thanks. Just wanted to add that if anyone else is doing this the globes are actually IN the circuit board which is accessible after unscrewing the backing panel.
