Does anybody know which wire on the stop light switch to splice into for a brake controller? Or, is there an eaiser pace to access the same wire?
This on a Disco 2 TD5 with ABS.

The one that has power on it only when the brake pedal is depressed.
Can't remember the colour code from when I did my mate's early Td5 Disco but it's one of them.
To get the colour code just take one of your brake lights out in the rear and see what colour the brake light wire is. It is the same colour on the brake switch.

Is there an easier way to access the wire than up at the switch?

Do a search on Brake Controller or EBC. Sniegy posted a good pictorial thread on this. The easies place is down at the switch. The easiest controller to fit is a RedArc with the remote head unit (RH suffix)

I have a Redarc, but not the remote head model, it was way too expensive for a only little more convenience.

All it is is the same controls on longer wires. You could simply extend the one you have. Great little unit this way as you can hide the control box anywhere. In the Disco I silasticted the box behind the kick panel and then ran the panic button wires up to a momentary switch (I had spare) on the binnacle, drilled 2 holes in the top of the kick panel and pushed the LED and the brake setting knob through them.

It's now in my Defender and even less visible on the Puma dash.

It isn't the same, the remote head model only has one knob & the LED, on the normal model it has 2 knobs & the LED.

The second "knob" is the red panic button momentary switch. That's the red painted switch in the picture of my Disco.

Drop the panel from under the steering column, 2 turn buckle screws & you can basically look at the switch with the cover down.
You can see the connector & then tap into it.

I put my Redarc in the same place as dm td5 has, but I just attached the whole unit there with Velcro.
Sorry can't help on the wiring though.
