Sounds like Idle Air Control Valve (IAC) on back of plenum is gunked up, take it off and clean with Carb cleaner, check plug to MAF is seated properly, take out and give the pins a slight twist, put plug back in and out a few times, make sure it is seated properly, check air filter is not cactus, spray the hotwires in the MAF with carb or Throttle body cleaner while running, Regards Frank.

Exactly what Tank said! I had a similar problem once.It coughed and splattered and it turned out to be the plug on the air flow meter had worked its way loose.Pushed it in and it was fine.If its not that maybe check if your fuel pump is on its way out.

thanks for that. i have now cleaned the IAC (damn that had some massive grease build up) and tighten up the play in the MAF. air filters brand new. ill see how that goes. while ive got your brains, what are theses 2 vacuum lines, and where do they go too????

Its the same line .
the round thing is a vacuum reservoir so that when foot down low vacuum, the thing which it sends vacuum to, which is the motor that runs the aircon flaps inside the car keeps operating.

If you got a lot of gunk on stepper motor i would pull the plenum apart and clean it aswell may stop the steper clogging up as qiuck.

I've been having similar problems on my V8 90, intermittent stalling, usually after it's been running for a few minutes... and sometimes it just won't turn back on unless you give it several minutes before restarting... quite annoying, I checked spark, and I checked fuel, both seemed OK.

Strangely enough, it never occured to me that it wasn't getting any air... :bangin:

I thought it must be the fuel pump not providing enough pressure!

Thanks all, will check the suggestions above before swapping the pump over :P
