Anyone got the Bruce Davis version?? Do you like it. Simple as I am a minimalist they are five min up the road and if it works well Im in.
I am happy to acknowledge as a mechanic I'm brilliant at molecular orbital theory :p
I wouldn't know they first thing about them. I know what they do but don't put the parts in front of me and say install it.

I was looking at front and rear lockers myself but have been told try the CDL first as i wont need lockers. Happy to give it a go first. We do get our D2 wet and dirty but nothing extreme well until i can convince the Chancellor of the Exchequer if we spend the money it cant sit in the driveway idle

Dont go the Bruce Davis unit..

It works fine and quality ok too...

But you cant lock in high range, and you cant UNlock in Low range...

The Single Best way is a D2a CDL kit, either from TRS or new from UK... Its only $450ish and the neatest, reliable upgrade avail.

I have the Davis unit, as thats about all that was on the market at the time.

Just when you're in High its unlocked, and when in low you're locked. Generally not a problem, except touring and sand driving.

As per Tombie... go the D2a kit. ITs as good as it gets and probably costs the same as the Davis kit.

Have you got any more info on the Davis unit, installation issues, price etc.
I never beach drive, mostly High Country etc.

Thanks.

The TRS kit which is the D2a factory kit is $750, which is the only one i could find. I've been searching for one at a wrecker for months no, and still can't find anything for under $600. Factory linkage that is.

I had it fitted in about 2001 and back then I think it was about $400 or $440 installed. It connects to the low/high range linkage and acts on the CDL nut via a lever with a little adjustable solid link. Its very well made etc. There are no installation issues though, especially when Davis's own shop fits it. To be honest, I'm not sure if they still make them or not, but at least it is pretty much fool proof and very well made. If you do need the flexibility of High range locked for desert touring or a week on Fraser etc, then I just crawl underneath and remove 1 end of the actuating link and engauge the CDL. The D2a unit is significantly more elegant and still cable operated (ie without introducing more noise into the cabin)

Guys, found this kit available from Graham Cooper automotive. Pic enclosed. Its $420. I can see the value of what it does, just struggling a bit with the cost for a cable setup like this.
Any thoughts?
