How much weight can a Defender wing guard hold (with 3mm checker plate)

I'm just curious as I'm not exactly as slim as I should be (:() and I'm getting a roof rack soon so will probably be climbing up there on the odd occasion.

While I doubt it will collapse under you, I would not put my full weight on mine. I have not got chequer plate on mine, but I doubt 3mm adds a lot of strength - the problem is the underpinnings, and the 90/110 design with the inner guard is not as strong as the Series design, although even there they are not designed to walk on.

On the other hand, some people have stood on theirs without problems. It depends not only on how heavy you are, but how careful you are and where you step - right at the back or front is safest, the middle, right next to the bonnet the weakest.

It gets worse on the Puma as the wheel arch is all plastic. The only reason I mention the checker plate is this should prevent collapse of the top panel. I was more worried about the rest of the guard coming off.

Perhaps I'll just stick to the rear ladder;)

ive got the 3mm kit on the 90, i stand on mine all the time. im only 64kg  i try to put my weight close to the wing/guard edge as the corner is far stronger then the engine bay side. once your weight is up close to the bailkhead i doubt you will have an issue.
