Guys,
I was pricing a 2" lift from ARB. The chap recommended that in addition to the lift, a castor kit would be required to correct castor angle. Is this necessary, with a lift of this height?

What was the cost from ARB?
I am considering Ironman, as I had that on my last vehicle, with foam cell shockers & found it very good.

If its a D2 then that is absolute rubbish! One of the awesome things about D2s is that you can lift them a fair bit and not need to correct castor. I dont think the ARB guy knows what he is talking about.
You would probably need it on a Pootrol or Toymota...

The ARB gear is ok, but they charge like wounded bulls. If your after a low cost setup the iron man is relatively good value. You will easily pay doubel for an ARB OME setup.

on a d1 2inch lift you dont need the caster kit but would make it fill a bit better,i just had the ome lift by arb taken out and currently puting in nissan shocks, and have the standed castor

ARB OME kit unfitted, springs and shocks $1168. Fitting $236. CAstor kit fitted $313.
If you have an Ironman price, plz let me know. BTW this was for a 00 D2.

From memory my brother in laws ironman setup cost about $8-900? This didnt include a steering dampener. Gave him a pretty good lift too.

I bought OME 2 inch coils and ride pro shocks for $420 and my mechanic fitted them for $200 no castor correction required. A 2 inch is not a big lift and does not impede the driveability of a D1 or a D2.

Weird.
I was quoted $1800 by ARB for the ARB D2 03/04 sahara bar. On the old man emu.com site it is listed at $1307! Go figure.

Fitting? That would be at least $300. Go the sahara bar...I think they are the nicest for the D2. Although the additional side protection of the std bar is good the the bush.

Nah, the $1800 was unfitted. I absolutely agree with the looks tho. This is to go on a 00D2 so bit of fiddling needed, hence doing it myself, but that pic of sniegy's (sp), d2 with this bar fitted just did it for me.

Have you fitted the Sahara bar yet? I would get all of the heavy bolt on bits first....then weigh the car before deciding on what springs and shocks to get.
Too many people rush out and buy the suspension first...then the bull bar, winch etc...which completely screws up the levels of your new suspension.
I have a heavy duty Dobinson set-up on my Disco and was very surprised to see how much the front dropped when I put the bull bar and winch on...I ended up with spacers to correct the front end drop.
Just a thought.....................

Thanks for that. Good advice.;) I wondered why they showed diff coils for the same truck with bar work, v8, td5 etc. You've explained it. Incidently I have seen the dobinson and other shock and spring packs around. I knew of OME prior, but not much about these other brands. Any thoughts?
