Gday i think the Thermostat in my Series 3 is stuffed (not opening) as the top radiator hose is always empty...even after a good run..Any ideas ?
when i remove it do i need to get a land rover one ? or is there a universal brand ? that makes them to suit.
its a 1975 two and a quarter liter four cylinder petrol
Thanks

They will be special to that engine, but probably available from places like Repco or any Landrover specialist. Not a big job, pull the existing one out and see whether it opens when heated in a saucepan - there are other possibilities such as a missing or damaged water pump impeller.

I have a holden (straight 6 I think) thermostat. Was reccommended by a radiator bloke who was also a series owner. You need a brass ring to make up for the lack of skirt on the holden thermostat.

Fitted it in 1996.

I found this , i think off the Tridon website, Landy ser 3 6, takes a TT2000-180 thermostat, wouldn;t it be better to get somethng that fits rather than something that half fits.

edit
oops just read the bottom line, you have a 4

here is the page http://www.tridon.com.au/partfinder/default.aspx

the 4 is the same as the 6 and the number I put is the high flow version or alternatively its the TT1-180
