If, for some reason the mechanism that opens the fuel filler flap from the dash control fails, is there any other way of opening it? (Without destroying it).

opened mine with a feeler gauge. only thing that I had to fit. when you get it open you may need to bend the flap thing. best of luck:(

I haven't had it fail yet, it is more of a "what if" query.
We do travel to quite remote areas, & I would like to know beforehand what to do if it fails.
Some vehicles have a concealed pull cable.

bigger problem is the D2 bonnet release if you have not got a jack elsewhere

I use the high speed pumps when filling and the larger nozzle knocks the locking mec if not careful.only had a problem twice both times in out of the way places. its a p.i.a. when in a hurry.

I see the fuel filler as bigger issue, someone else will definitely have a jack!

I've never heard of it failing, but anythings possible. You could probably just push the catch flap thing with a flat screwdriver I guess.
