HI all,
My P38 4.6HSE immobilisor is misbehaving at the moment. The remote button won't unluck or disarm the immobilisor. The EKA thing works, but I want it fully functional.
I re-sync'd the remote (hold lock buttom, rotate key anti-clockwise, hold 3 seconds), and everything worked perfectly all weekend. Then, this morning... nothing!
Research suggests it may be the receiver, the remote key has new batteries.
Any ideas? I'm in Perth.
Cheers.

More research suggests it is the key fob!
Anyone know how to get a proper one in less than 6 weeks as stated by Barbagallos?

Unfortunately you're stuck as they are made for each VIN.
Make sure you haven't had a lockset change though otherwise you'll have a very expensive remote that doesn't work.
How is the 2nd remote? Does that work OK?
It may be worthwhile stripping your remote down & having the joints resoldered.

Thanks Scott.
As suspected, I think I'd better just get into the dealer and get one on order.
Sadly, I only have one key for the car. I assume it is Key 1 - given it's colour. (I suppose it doesn't matter for ordering purposes if I only have the one anyway)

As a side note, I locked the car last night from inside the house (through a window, and the car was 9mtrs away!
Is this usual when these things are on the blink? Locking is pertfect, unlocking causing problems?
Maybe I will pop the case open and have a look inside...

I have heard mention on other sites of the remotes being different colours but I have never seen a difference in Australia.
I would be very careful ordering a remote if you don't know what you have already. You might have more problems than now if you end up with 2 remote1s or 2s.
A safer bet might be to order a remote3 (if you still can).
After reading that you have a good remote range (unlike mine), I think the problem might lie in the unlock switch joints or the switch itself.
The case is very tight to get apart but do-able.

I would look at the option to refurbish the remote, there are kits avaliable out there, the cause could be many things but while you have it apart I would but a kit through it. I will find a link if you would like this option. I have seen them put not 100% sure where.
Cheers Craig
