Nikon D3x (http://www.nikon.com.au/productitem.php?pid=1300-81707cab7d)
Thom Hogan has a thread (http://www.bythom.com/nikond3xcomments.htm) on it too
Me, I'm waiting for a D700x, but could be tempted with a D3 now the price has dropped and should drop further.
So who read the title and didn't notice which forum area it was posted under?

We've been had. We've all gone digital to save on film processing, but now you're expected to spend 3 or 4 k on a new camera every 3 years. :(

3 or 4 k try over 8k. Its listed in the USA as US$7999:eek:
This is top end studio or landscape pro kit.
Yes its not that great looking, but when you hold one and realise the controls are just there next to your fingers, you realise why it is like that. If you want ugly look at the Sony A900.
See the post reeled in a few that didn't check what part of the forum it was in:D

Function over looks, Nikon at that range is solely aimed at the pro or the guys that have the cash to at least look like a pro.
Top level stuff, being an ex pro paper photographer, there is Nikon and than there is the rest.
Canon is getting better too but not at top level.
Good on you for getting the best, you only live once.
made in Japan too.

Noticed the forum it was in and momentarily wondered why you would post into camera corner - then it clicked (pun intended)

Well not all... :(
Still use my Pentax LX (pro-body), K1000 and Mamiya 645. But processing is, er, challenging these days. Only have a PHD digital.
Nice Nikon btw, I still miss my F, F2, FE and FT2...

PSSST. Want to buy a Nikon F100 in great condition? As unbelievably good as it was when new 8 years ago. Unfortunately you can't get drivers for it anymore.... oops I mean film :mad:
