I am new to Australia and have a question regarding cb radios; does a person require a license to have a cb radio in their vehicle? Just want one for communicating on 4x4 outings, other wise it would never be on.

No license needed for your standard 5watt UHF or a 27mhz system.

Try the ACMA website - it's the regulatory body and has the current info
eg ACMA - Citizen band radio fact sheet (http://www.acma.gov.au/WEB/STANDARD/pc=PC_1688)
