My mate is grey nomading around Australia towing a big van, with I think about 300/ 350 kg on the tail .
He has a HSE tdV6
The rear tyres chopped out because of a bad wheel alignment, ( in Darwin ? )which he wasn't very happy about .
He had two new tyres put on, and a new wheel alignment . ( Different city and miles on down the track )
He told the aligner he wasn't happy with the other tyre place, and to make sure he did a good job .
Fortunately the bloke had a quiet day on, and did a good job, because so far they're wearing well .
John watched while he did it, and here's the interesting bit .
-( as I understand it )
He jacked the car up and took the two back wheels off .
Then he snapped loose a locking nut .
Then he put the wheels back on .
Then he aligned the wheels .
Then he jacked the car up again and took the wheels back off again .
Then he locked the locking nut .
Then he put the wheels back on again .
Seems like a hell of a process to me . And I can't see too many mechanics queing up to pull Disco wheels on and off .
Is this normal for aligning Discos ?
Or do Dealers and Landy specialists have special tools to access the locking nuts ?
What I'm getting at here is that I can't see too many tyre aligners working in tyre dealers going to all that trouble, so it's a receipe for a poor alignment .
