hi there,
Was wondering if anyone has experienced or heard a high pitched squeaking/squealing sound from disco 3 when driving off?, I've experienced this a few times and I'm thinking the park brake isn't disengaging properly.
thanks

It could well be the park brake as they can be problematic at times.
They need to be kept in adjustment & they don't like being dirty :(.

If it also happends when you put the park brake on, its the shoes for shore, we get alot of them in, its about a 20min job to clean the pads an rotor, an to reajust the pads, it not hard if u want to do it yourself, but if in doubt take it to your dealer, (or my dealership):BigThumb:, will be warrenty

yeah, happens when taking off after disengaging the park brake. would like to take it to your dealership stig, but a tad far from me, I've booked it at land rover in the valley.
funny thing is I was looking at the reciepts of the previous owner and saw that they reported the same thing in the last service they've done before I bought the car (around 1500klms ago), and the dealer said there were heaps of brake dust and they cleaned it just like you mentioned but the squealing is back again, whick makes me think it's more than just that but I'll see what the valley dealer people say, maybe they're better than the mount gravatt service people. here's hoping.
cheers

now i know, we'll see what they though. Interestingly, I was browsing the web for the the squealing noice and lo and behold I found another blog which describes the same symptoms

I guess it's not just me then

Hi Shekster, there shouldn't be loads of brake dust - that means the park brake has been getting jammed. It's a common problem, but easily rectified and prevented with regular maintenance.
There's an explaination of how to adjust it at home at DISCO3.CO.UK - Dedicated to Discovery 3 and LR3 Owners and Enthusiasts (http://www.disco3.co.uk) ,just search for 'EPB'.

He may have had some issues and there's always a lemon in every manufacturer's production, but he's one in thousands, or tens of thousands.

Yes, that what it sounds like exactly, like prak brake is still engaged. the last service did say there were loads of brake dust and that was just not even 2k ago.

The guy is a complete Tosser.
He was supposed to say how wonderful his new Q7 was. But hasn't said a thing.
What was it that clarkson said about Audi drivers being Coks?
As others have said check disco3.co.uk it is the source for D3 info. Poll showed 50% has had at least one EPB screamer.
Mine has been faultless. :)

Yep, guy is certainly not happy with LR. I've always been a fan of LR, have read a lot of 'don't go there' with LR but happy was able to get myself a fairly newish Disco3 (and it's black! :)).
Squealing is happening more often now, have the car booked in for this Friday, hope they fix it then.

An easily fixed issue but a poor design for an off road vehicle.:(
Magic when it works though.:)

Turns out dealer needed to replace the Parking module. the shoes where smashed/split due to the heat (when the park brake wouldn't disengage properly), they've replaced them too. All is well now, I haven't disengaged it by stepping on the gas pedal, I think I'll limit that from now on.
