Hi guys, I've worked on commodores for years and have seen recent modifications including changing the inner headlight shells of later models from silver to black. I'm interested to know some thoughts or past experiences in whether it's possible to remove the headlight glass on a P38, and spray the inner faceplate of the headlight black, basically emulating the later 2000 model. It's just an idea, but I believe some masking tape, silicone, plastic primer, and matt black paint would make it possible. The reason I mention is that I recently changed the front indicators to the clear variety, thanks to PaulP38a, and Sneigy, the rear. The later headlights seem to make the front look better with these. cheers, Ren

I was actually thinking along the same lines, but I had a close look at the later ones. They actually have a moulded plastic insert to give that look, I guess you could make one out of MDF or such.

Hi Stu, I haven't looked at one up close, but does the insert sit directly in front of the chrome lens or further forwards behind the glass? I don't think it would be hard to make one from mdf or even perspex? however heat may be an issue.
