Loaded Win Xp (SP1) on my new computer - all working OK except.

Windows updates are not working. Note I never use Auto Updates only use the inform and select - then download and instal option. No advice of updates have come through to the computer to I went to the Windows update center to download the updates I want. When I open the page an error comes up saying I cannot connect to the Windows update center - the help function says how to adjust firewall settings but I haven't switched it on at this stage - the other is to allow the update site in the allowed sites section of IE. Have done this.

Still no luck - any ideas on how I can get my computer to talk to the Windows uopdate site so I can update the OS to SP3 etc.

Thanks

Garry

Is it OK to use this as it says it is not for single computers.

I cannot even load the latest security update because it is through the update centre.

Any thoughts on how I can get my computer to talk to the update centre so that I can get updates in future.

Thanks

Again - is this suitable for single computers - the description indicates it is for networks etc.

Thanks

In my search to find SP2 and sp3 - I did see a patch on the WIN XP download site to fix this

Cheers

It's OK - it's so an IT person can run a whole heap of PCs up to service pack 3 without each having to connect to updates.

I used it on a numbers of single PCs a few months back.

yep is fine, is just all in one file so you can download and run them all at once instead of using the update server.
