A friend of mine has recently aquired ANOTHER LR to add to his already impressive fleet, which is made up of a '97 Defender 110 Tdi Auto, a '95 130 4BD1Turbo IC DCab, a 1991 RRC, a S1 107", a 2a 88" HTop, a 2a 109 Dormobile, and a few corpses of S3's etc. After a call from a fellow 'would you like to buy my 2a swb that has been garaged for the last 19years and is of no further use' he hitailed it to find a totally original 88" diesel with tropical roof, corrosion free, straight and in beautiful condition. Comes with a 8000lb Thomas PTO winch, a rear PTO output (not fitted) and apart from the siezed brakes and hub seals leaking etc got a set of new glowplugs and fired up immediately. This vehicle was driven out from UK and has been in his family since the mid 70's.
I haven't got pics but I cannot believe the condition of this vehicle:o
The asking price was a joke, My friend offered twice as much and even did some landscaping/ fencing for him too after getting over the initial shock of such a find.
They are still about, these 'shed finds'!

You mean the Tdi Defender auto? He already owned the vehicle when I fitted the auto for him, came from a Disco Tdi as a complete donor conversion. The parts all came to around $2200, and the labour was about $1500 or so. Included the oil cooler and an in cab oil temp gauge etc. We mounted the shifter at the front of the console initially, he did the finish interior trimming to suit it .
It goes VERY well, all Defenders should be done like this:twisted:
