this last week or so i have noticed a clunking in the drivetrain of my 01 td5 auto disco. after having a look under the car i've come to the conclusion that its the front uni thats gone as there is an extreme amount of play in it and i honestly havent really maintained it. the vehicle has done 215000+ks and i was planning on upgrading the drive shafts when i lift it in the next few weeks,
:confused:the urgent question i need to ask however is when i had a look under the car i've noticed a fair amount of oil around and saw this hole. at first i thought HOLY **** the sump plugs gone and the transmissions got no oil in it! but the plug appears to be there so my question is what is this threaded hole? has something dissappeared or is it meant to be there. my old man said it was a wading plug that you have to put in before taking it swimming but i have never heard of any such thing nor does the manual say anything about this in preparing the vehicle for wading. however, after some reading on here i have discovered what one is but i havent found a good explanation as to what to do,
there is division as to weather your auto/diesel needs one. i have done many water crossing and had it sitting in a bog hole upto the doors so this plug hole will have been under water. what should i do?
i am thinking about making up some sort of breather from clear hose so as i can see if its leaking as well as not having to put a plug in and out ever 5 minutes, also is it as simple as doing a full oil change to prevent/fix any damage that may have already occurred?
